About the Artist
Having achieved a degree in fine art in Canada in 1978 Murray Hubick has gone on to enjoy a successful career in the varied disciplines of illustration, teaching, painting and drawing in the full variety of mediums and advanced trompe d’oeil technique.
He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions and has works in the collections of the Morgan Bank- Canada, the Swiss Bank, CKOC Radio- Canada, Mr. J. Ward ( Director, Sea Links Ferries, Dover U. K. ) to name but a few. Since coming to the U. K. ten years ago Murray has exhibited in galleries throughout England and on the continent as well as being involved with numerous commissioned works of trompe d’oeil murals and portraiture. His treatment of a complete cinema house in Lincolnshire has been highlighted on ITV’s Country Calendar and in Country Life Magazine, a national U. K. periodical.
And that’s the cut down press version. More recently, over the past five years, I have worked almost exclusively in my studio here in Tunbridge Wells which, for those of you who might not be familiar with the geography of England is in a very beautiful part of the county of kent and about fifty miles south of the city of London. I deal my work mostly through my agent here in the U. K. and her associate in the United states. My most recent exhibitions have been in London and Connecticut. A more complete CV can be had on request.
As to my work, the main interest seems to lie in paintings based on the nude which I have repeatedly gone back to over the years. Some still life, although while I enjoy working in the genre a periodic break from it is required. Finally, portraiture, which I find fascinating and probably the most rewarding. For me the idea of pulling a personality out or being able to reveal the person within is very challenging. The most recent works can be seen in the portraiture section and are done on a fairly large scale, also a direction I seem to be going in.
If there are any who would be interested to know more about me or my work or would like to express your views about my work, art or whatever please feel free to e-mail I would welcome your thoughts and input.
